Dr Anne McDougall

Dr Anne McDougall is Associate Professor of Educational Computing at the University of Melbourne and Head of the Department of Science and Mathematics Education. She is Australia's representative on Technical Committee 3 (Education) of the International Federation for Information Processing, and Vice-Chair of the committee.

Anne is Chair of the Australian Computer Society's National Committee for Educational Computing, a member of the International Advisory Board for the Journal of Computer Assisted Learning, and the editorial boards of Education and Information Technologies and Australian Educational Computing.

Anne is internationally known as the author and co-author of books including Choosing and Using Educational Software,Learning with the Media of Their Time, Computers: Promise and Challenge in Education, the Learning Logo series, and texts for Computer Science and school Computer Studies, as well as many research papers and journal articles. Her research interests include the development, evaluation, selection and curriculum integration of educational software; the study of learning through observation of computer use; online learning and e-learning; the human computer interface design for learning, the teaching and learning of programming; and multimedia authorship by learners.

Anne McDougall’s current projects include: co-authorship of a book on human-computer interaction for learning, an investigation of children's demonstration of understanding of science and mathematics concepts through programming projects and a study of the use of laptop computers in educational settings.

Peter Kent

Peter Kent, Deputy Principal of Richardson Primary School (ACT), is currently on leave from his position in order to head up the Commander Team of Interactive Whiteboard Experts.

Peter was responsible for leading Richardson Primary School’s ground breaking use of Interactive Whiteboards within their teaching and learning program.

Richardson Primary School was awarded a Federal Government’s National Award for Quality Schooling based on their interactive whiteboard initiative. Case studies of this initiative have appeared in the Practicing Administrator, Educare and the UK journal SNAPSHOTS. Peter has distilled the pedagogical changes that took place at Richardson Primary School in the form of the ‘e-Teaching Framework’.

Peter Kent has presented over 20 seminars and conference papers on ‘e-teaching’ to educators across Australia, the UK, Asia and within the USA.

   

John Treloar

John Treloar, Education Director, Asia Pacific, joined Macromedia in the role of Managing Director Australia/New Zealand in March 2001 following the merger of Macromedia and Allaire Corporation.

In the role of Education Director, Asia Pacific, John Treloar’s key responsibilities include major whole of country and state-wide educational training, curriculum and software programs, Tertiary Institution Site Licenses and development of a common, manageable Education offering across the Macromedia APAC Region.

John has a strong background in the Information Technology industry, and has held several senior roles with Microsoft in Australia, including Corporate Marketing Director, Regional Marketing Manager, as well as Education Sales and Marketing Manager. Two years spent in Paris as Microsoft’s European Business Development Manager was a real highlight of John’s career and added even more to his already broad skill set.

Besides working for Macromedia as Managing Director for Australia/New Zealand, John Treloar is also a partner in the Internet e-commerce business www.betterskin.com.au

John Treloar’s tertiary education was at Charles Sturt University, Deakin University and Riverina College of Advanced Education, and he holds a Bachelor of Education and a Graduate Diploma in Computer Education.
