Essential Database Theory and Microsoft Access skills for Computer Science Unit 2B
This presentation will cover the use of E-R diagrams to design databases and how to build these databases in Microsoft Access.
This will be a hands-on workshop where participants will learn essential theory and valuable practical skills (eg creating and linking tables, techniques to improve data integrity) as well as strategies to develop these skills with students studying the Computer Science Unit 2B.
This is a BYO Computer workshop. Participants need to have Microsoft Access
(any version) loaded on the notebook computer before the presentation. Those
without a notebook computer can team up with someone who does

Intended Audience: Senior Secondary teachers and others interested learning more about databases and MS Access.
About the Presenter
Wayne Axford has been a secondary computing teacher for past seventeen years. He has taught TEE Computing and Information Systems for the past fifteen years and has developed several business databases.
Currently Wayne is based at Canning College, which has approximately one hundred and twenty students studying Information Systems each year. The six teachers involved in the Information Systems course have developed effective strategies and resources to deliver the subject, some of which the presenter will share with participants during this session.
Wayne is a member of the ECAWA Committee.
