Collegial Support

This document may be used to provide feedback and guidance under a Collegial Support scheme. For the purposes of this scheme the teacher in control of the class is termed the "Instructor". The person filling out this form is termed the "Colleague". It is important that the process be viewed as a non-judgemental. In order to achieve this, the following rules apply when filling out this form.

  1. This document is highly confidential. It may not be copied, except by the Instructor. The Instructor is to have sole access.
  2. One (and only one) Focus Point (see below) may be selected for discussion.
  3. The Feedback and Discussion are used for clarification, not 'advice'. (Unsolicited advice could be misinterpreted by the Instructor as judgement.)
  4. The Colleague may answer direct questions from the Instructor.

Using this form:
The Colleague spends a teaching session with the Instructor. Following the session the Colleague completes this form and gives it to the Instructor. At a convenient time the Instructor and Colleague engage in discussion about the nominated Focus Point. The Colleague completes the Feedback/Discussion section. Following the discussion the Instructor engages in a private "Reflective Review" and completes the Instructor section of the Feedback/Discussion.

Feedback/Discussion:
This section summarises the discussion and stimulates further reflection. Generally the Colleague fills out their section prior to the discussion session. The Colleague should restrict themselves to objective (ie non-judgmental) statements that provide clarification related to the ONE focus point selected. No unsolicited "advice" is to be given by the Colleague. No other focus point is to be discussed. The Colleague writes a brief summary of the discussion and hands the form to the Instructor. The Instructor completes their section privately as a form of "Reflective Review". The Colleague does not see the completed form.
